4. The Fortean Zoological Aspects of the Biggles Books [2002]
Jan 16, 2021 · The Biggles Forum. A place to talk about Biggles and Captain W.E. Johns. About flying hero James C Bigglesworth (known to his friends as Biggles) ...
Following on from some faded printed material I had discovered in an old folder, including some articles discussed or shared on the old Yahoo Groups Biggles forum, I found the interesting title "The Fortean Zoological Aspects of the Biggles Books of Captain W.E. Johns" [2002], by author Graham Inglis. It is a lengthy article, but I recall reading it at the time & being fascinated as to the history & lore behind many of the unusual animals Biggles, Algy & Ginger encountered while travelling with Dr. Duck in Biggles: Charter Pilot. Plus some mentions of strange critters in The Cruise of the Condor & of course Hits The Trail [electric centipedes for starters, lol ].

Forteana Exchange (FortX) is a private archive and data-sharing list for researchers of Forteana with an emphasis on discovery of original accounts in pre-1960 archives. Scope FortX will cover all categories of Forteana arising from (not limited to) the topics discussed by Charles Fort. Pre 1947 accounts of anomalous aerial phenomena is the topic of our sister list Magonia Exchange. Experience shows that a forum like this works best if it is not diverted off mission so we have established a companion list (Forteana Exchange Discussion (FortXD)) for discussion of FortX posts. Membership Applications are welcome and will be considered on merit. The full version of this note will be sent to new members on acceptance, or may be requested at any time. Why pre-1960? Collecting reports of anomalous phenomena was pioneered by Charles Fort and continued by the Fortean Society. Subsequent collections were byInternational Fortean Organisation (1961); the Society For The Investigation Of The Unexplained (1967); and (1973) Fortean Times. Fort limited himself to after 1800. Therefore we decided that our interest should extend backwards from 1960. Formats This list is to share news stories, articles and other material pre 1960. Postings may be scanned or digitised images of clippings, PDFs or typed transcripts. Full references and source are essential. The preferred language is English but material in any language is welcome. The subject header of each post should contain the da...
